Why Join?

The Chamber works for its members, being the spokesperson for business and professional communities, and by promoting commercial, industrial, social and civic interests of our community.  We will continue to be the leader in addressing the issues affecting the Humboldt & District business climate.  We are the “Voice of Humboldt & Area Business” (our Vision) and we will “foster an environment where Humboldt & area businesses can prosper” (our Mission statement).   

 Sometimes we are very visible in the community and you can see what we are doing (the Mark of Excellence Awards, tradeshow, Moonlight Madness).  Other times, we are silently working for the benefit our members (working with and/or informing City Council of business issues, working with the Provincial Growth Strategy Task Force, dealing with potential business investors).  We may not move mountains, and neither do we build them up overnight.  Sometimes, it takes months or even years of work to produce results.  But, we are there and we do our part to improve the business climate for our city, our province and our country (through involvement with the Provincial Chamber).

 Our success and effectiveness is directly related to our membership base and therefore we appreciate and value your membership with the Chamber.

MEMBERSHIP Q & A
What is the direct benefit of becoming a member?  If you are doing business in this area, you are participating in the economy of the community.  The one organization actively devoted to developing, protecting and expanding that opportunity is your local Chamber of Commerce. 

What if I do not have the time to be a member?  You do not have the time to answer hundreds of requests for information to help bring industry into this city either, do you?  Or conventions?  Or new citizens?   But it needs to be done.  If you are unable to support the Chamber of Commerce with both time and money, you can be confident that there are elected peers who volunteer their time and experience on your behalf.

 What makes the Chamber of Commerce different than other organizations?  The Chamber of Commerce organization is unique.  It is a partner to every business and every citizen.  You belong in it as long as you are benefiting from its activities and should shoulder a part of the operating expenses.  What investment is more important to you as a business or professional citizen than one that ensures that your voice is heard?

The best way to help your business grow larger is to properly support your Chamber of Commerce…more industries, more residents, more tourists, more people shopping in this city will mean more business for you.  The Chamber of Commerce is working to promote all of these things.  In addition, it affords many valuable contacts and networking opportunities with your fellow citizens and business people.  We are not asking you to give away money, but to make an investment.  Your return is the continued growth and prosperity of our community.  The government recognizes that a Chamber of Commerce is a business expense, not a contribution. 

I am not at all interested in becoming a member of the Chamber.  This cannot be true because you are interested in this City and this Region and you are interested in the prosperity of your business.  You are interested in commercial and industrial progress benefitting your business.  Thus, you must be interested in the promotional program of the Chamber of Commerce.

We encourage every business and professional person to join the Chamber of Commerce and help us make things happen!  New members are welcome year round.
